Graduate Data Engineer

Job details:

You're a bright problem-solver. You examine things logically, you test theories and you use results to make things work better. You probably also suspect that an ordinary teaching or research career won’t make the most of your talents.

If this sounds like you then you're already halfway to becoming a Data Engineer.

Data Engineering is a fascinating new career for recent maths or science graduates like you who enjoyed logic, quants or the programming you tried at university. You're a detail-person with an aptitude for numbers, and maybe coding is your hobby, but you haven't considered an IT career because you think it’s only for computing graduates.

Trust us - things have changed.

At Bluesmith we pay you to train as a Data Engineer for six months then give you a full-time job at our software development company in Leeds. We teach you everything you need to know about design, development and testing: all at your own pace with practical examples in our award-winning syllabus. If something doesn't click, just ask your dedicated mentor or discuss the issue with workmates. We love people who question and debate the best way to fix something. If this sounds like you then there's an opportunity waiting in our open, equal and supportive management structure.

In a typical day as a Graduate Data Engineer you might brush up on your SQL knowledge, optimise a parallel data-load process, or discover how billions of database transactions reveal customer trends for big brand clients like Virgin Media and Morrisons. We get very excited about optimising database performance and so will you, because it's the same kind of applied mathematics and science you’re already familiar with. You don't have to be a computing graduate to appreciate the subtle elegance of a finely-tuned query execution plan! Just bring your analytical outlook and a willingness to learn and we'll fill in the gaps.

You’ve probably noticed that our competitors make comparable promises in their job ads.
