How would we sum it up?
This is an amazing opportunity for an aesthetically-minded and practical graduate to get stuck into a varied marketing role within a small manufacturer of decorative products that packs a huge punch. You would work closely with Managing Director and Office Sales Manager to take on a whole range of tasks related to marketing and design, with the hope of developing into a Marketing Manager position. Your first major project will be to help design Kansa’s show stand and work at Decorex Exhibition, London 14th – 19th September 2018. Think you’re up the challenge?

The business is Kansa, an established small company employing 20 people based in a picturesque site in Elsecar (on the Sheffield to Leeds train line). The business produces decorative lighting and stained glass, principally for the leisure industry. The business may be local, but it has global reach, with clients around the UK and in the middle east, USA and across Europe. The company also has an extensive history of importing lighting from the US, China and India. The business has developed over the last 38 years from a manufacturer of small handicraft items to a leading importer of stained glass and materials, and as a manufacturer and designer of decorative lighting and glass panels. What are all the practical details?
Starting salary: £21,000 - £23,000pa dependent on skills and experience
Location: Kansa Ltd, The Flour Mill, Wath Road, Elsecar, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S74 8HW
Start date: August/September 2018
Length of role: Six months, with a view to becoming permanent

Role responsibilities

What would you be doing?
Typical activities might include:
• Marketing projects to train to be a Marketing Manager
• Working with Interior Designers and Shop Fitters on decorative lighting and stained-glass projects for restaurants, bars, hotels, coffee chains.
• Working with costing and manufacturing departments to fine-tune products. Coordinating the existing team to photograph final products in studio and also in situ design images
• To manage content on Facebook and Pinterest and to produce email marketing campaigns
• To supervise and create marketing strategies with online retailers

Person specification

What type of person are they looking for?
The ideal candidate will:
• Be a graduate in any degree discipline
• Have a keen interest in aesthetics & interior design
• Have some drawing ability or design experience
• Be practical/‘hands on’ and possess an understanding of how things work. Some mechanical ability would be ideal
• Have good mathematical skills
• Be an excellent communicator – you will act as a key liaison between colleagues in different areas
• Have a familiarity with modern computer skills (Microsoft office suite as a basic)
• Have the ability to work on own initiative
• Be an “all-rounder” with skills in lots of different areas
