How would we sum it up?
This is an amazing part time role for a graduate with garment-making skills to join a social enterprise that helps people develop communication, employability, commercial awareness, presentation and problem-solving skills through learning fashion and textile manufacturing. The business is in the early stages of setting up a production venture to provide garment and textiles crafts products – all made from eco-fabrics – for sale and are creating samples for fashion collections. As an Apparel Production Manager, you will manage the production team to create items, purchase materials and deliver training.

What’s the business all about?
The business is Learn to Recreate, a social enterprise that provides fashion and textiles manufacturing training to individuals to enable them to gain skills to create sustainable livelihoods or upgrade their skills to industry standards. They work with 3 groups of people: professionals in the Fashion and Textiles sector that want to upgrade their technical production and business skills; students on internships and work placements; and unemployed individuals that require opportunities to develop work-related skills to enter the labour market. This training enables participants to set-up a business, to progress to further learning, take up an apprenticeship position, paid/unpaid work and/or get involved in their community. The business is also beginning to sell fashion and textile products, all made from eco-fabrics for consumers who value quality, style and choose to invest in eco-products whilst creating jobs and employment. What are all the practical details?
Starting salary: £15,500pa pro rata – this is a part time opportunity
Location: 580 Attercliffe Rd, Sheffield, S9 3QP
Start date: August/September 2018
Length of role: Six months, with a view to securing a permanent role depending on performance and business circumstances

Role responsibilities

What would you be doing?
Managing the production team to perform:
• Industrial sewing operations
• Producing samples and carrying out Garment construction operations
• Measuring and recording size required for various items
• Calculating the amount of fabric required and cost the items
• Purchasing required materials and supplies
• Use of Hand stitches and other decorative techniques for embellishing textile and garment surface
• Delivering training to trainees
• Preparing training studio for classes
• To participate in appropriate training
• Assisting the Creative Director with any other duties

What type of person are they looking for?
The ideal candidate will:
● Be a graduate of any degree discipline provided you have garment construction and pattern cutting skills – Fashion and Textile students are encouraged to apply!
● Have a flair for design and a love of textiles
● Strong knowledge of different methods of garment construction
● Be a quick learner
● Be proficient in MSOffice including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
● Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to deliver training
● Have strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
● Have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
● Have the flexibility to work within existing brand guidelines but offer own creative ideas to enhance outputs
